Tools You Need to Succeed

Step 1

In 3-5 sentences, explain why your idea is as fabulous as you know it is. This is your chance to make your project shine. In this section, it's helpful to be detailed as possible with what your project entails, why your audience would need it, and how you plan to go about bringing this idea to life once funded.

Add Rewards

Setting rewards can be another way to encourage more (and larger) donations. lets you set levels of rewards in increasing value depending on the contribution amount. This is a big incentive for people to donate, so make sure you've given it lots of thought and set up great rewards to reach your funding goal.

Sample Rewards

Donate $10 and Up

A branded e-sticker to add to your blog, website, Facebook page or Tumblr.

Donate $100 and Up

A branded magnet to add to your car.

Donate $150 and Up

A personalized and tagged thank you on our Facebook page.

Donate $1,000 and Up

An opportunity to meet with our founders for lunch.

Step 2

Upload any photos or video you have explaining or demonstrating your project.

Give yourself time to prepare a high-quality photograph for your project's thumbnail, as it's the first thing a person sees when they visit your project's page.

Videos are another great addition to your project page. They often receive the most positive response and are a much more engaging way to share your story and connect with your audience. We know it can feel daunting to take on a photo or a video shoot, but there are some great apps and sites, so do a little digging and you'll find great resources to help you with this.

1.) Research shows people get much more information from photos than text. Add pictures to brighten up your page and speed up your delivery. Add pictures of the project's progress to date, of yourself/your team, and rewards.

2.) Get feedback after you save your draft project, but before you submit it for approval. A few people will help you catch a lot of problems in advance, and while you're at it, get commitments to contribute on day one.

Step 3

You've already used your project page to explain what you're doing and why you're the best person to bring this idea to life. Now, share that message with your social networks!

When you share your project page with your inner circle, your inner circle will contribute and post your page on social media, thus reaching their friends, who will in turn "like" your campaign , contribute and repost it. Your campaign will reach friends of friends, who will also "like", contribute and repost, extending the outreach to a much broader community.

Extend Your Reach

Once your project is posted and well on its way to be funded, continue to keep your supporters updated on your project, and encourage new people to check out your page.

Ask your friends and family to share your page with their friends and family as well to broaden its reach.

When the project is almost entirely funded, send out a "last opportunity to contribute" email.

When the project is funded, don't forget to send a thank-you email to all your supporters.

Congrats on your great idea and hard work to get funded!
